SMS Communication

Send and receive SMS messages with customers directly from SuitTracker.

SuitTracker's SMS feature lets you send text messages to customers directly from the app. All conversations are stored as threads on the customer's profile, giving your team a complete message history without needing external tools.

Requirements

SMS is an add-on feature. Your store needs a registered SMS number to send and receive messages. Contact SuitTracker support to enable SMS for your organization. Once enabled, your store's SMS number will be shown in Settings → General → Customer Notifications.

Sending a Message

  1. 1 Open a customer's profile from the Customers list or from a wedding member row.
  2. 2 Click the Messages tab.
  3. 3 Type your message in the text field and click Send.
  4. 4 The customer receives the SMS from your store's number. Replies appear in the same thread.

Note: The customer must have a valid phone number on their profile for SMS to work. Landlines will not receive SMS messages.

Message Threads

All messages to and from a customer are stored in a single thread on their profile. This means any staff member can pick up a conversation and see the full history. The thread shows:

  • • The message content
  • • Whether it was sent or received
  • • The date and time
  • • Which staff member sent it (for outbound messages)

Automatic Notifications

SuitTracker can send automated SMS notifications to customers at key points in the workflow. Common automated messages include:

Order Ready

Sent when a tailoring order or special order is marked as ready for pickup.

Appointment Reminder

Remind wedding members of upcoming fitting appointments.

Wedding Reminders

Remind wedding party members who haven't been measured yet as the wedding date approaches.

Notification templates and trigger rules are configured in Settings → General → Customer Notifications.

Incoming Messages

When a customer replies to a message, the reply appears in the thread on their profile. If there's a new incoming message you haven't seen, an indicator will appear on the customer's profile and in the Messages section of the app. Review and respond from the Messages tab.

Opt-Outs

Customers can reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages from your store. When a customer opts out, SuitTracker automatically stops sending automated messages to that number. Manual messages are also blocked to respect the opt-out. The customer's profile will indicate that they have opted out.

Best Practices

Keep messages short and professional. Customers expect concise, useful messages from businesses.

Always identify your store in messages so customers know who is texting them.

Check the Messages section regularly — customers may reply with questions or to confirm appointments.
